The cool part about building a business is that you get to choose your own job title, so mine is “A First Officer for Your Creative Business.” Of course, that’s a bit outside the usual parameters, so what does that mean, exactly?
It is my privilege to serve as a First Officer to a select group of creative business owners. I like to think of myself as…
- your first line of defense. I’m the one who’s there to solve the problems that come up unexpectedly (and when are you ever actually expecting problems?).
- your sounding board. I’m waiting on the other end of a Skype call or an email conversation to help you talk through your goals, your next big project, or the feeling that you’re stuck and you’re not sure what to do next.
- your storyteller. I love to talk about the amazing work my clients are doing, and helping them share their stories with the world is something that really makes me geek out.
- your biggest fan. I only work with people if I really believe in the work they’re doing. I believe that the world needs more Awesome, and if you’re making something awesome, it’s a privilege for me to help you do that. I will always be the person who believes in the power of your business, your goals, and your awesomeness.
Every business is different, so my individual job roles vary from client to client. Here are a few scenarios of what I can do for you as YOUR First Officer:
One-Time Problem Solver
Sometimes there’s a big project that you’ve been putting off because you just don’t have the time. Or maybe you know you’re missing some information in order to get started, but who has time for all that training and research? I do – that’s who! I really love being your go-to gal; the one you can trust to handle a big project or get your next big thing off the ground. I’m a big fan of research and I’m self-taught in nearly everything I know how to do, so this is my thing. (True story: I was in a club called Future Problem Solvers in high school. I guess that worked out pretty well!)
Seriously – bring me what you’ve got, dump it in my lap, and I’ll make it happen. I bet there’s a project that’s been waiting around in your “someday” files for too long – I’ll work with you to make some day, today.
For this type of work I offer my services at $50/hour, by the hour. Click here to get started with a FREE initial consultation to find out if I’m the right problem-solver for your business!
The Voice of Reason
Sometimes you just want to be able to talk about your business with someone you trust. Someone who can step outside your business and be objective, to offer you advice and resources you might not be able to see for yourself. I absolutely LOVE working with small business owners 1-on-1 to help them get past obstacles, figure out the solution to a problem, hire someone for their business, and map out a path to achieving their goals. If you want someone you can talk to about your business, I’m all ears. We can talk just once, or you can purchase an ongoing package at a discounted rate. Click here for all the details.
Some people call this a content producer or content manager, but Chief Storyteller is so much more fun! Content is how you tell the story of your business – it’s how you connect with prospective buyers and show them that you’re an authority in your niche. If you’re the type of person who loves to create products or services but hates to write content about it, that’s where I come in! Whether you want someone to craft your blog posts, put together email newsletters, polish up your website copy, or help you write the content for an e-book or online course, I’m your ghostwriting gal.
For this type of project, we can either work together in a one-time project (like updating all the pages on your website), or an ongoing basis (like regularly writing your blog posts and email newsletters). My fee is $50/hour either way. Click here to tell me about your story, and we’ll start with a free consultation to figure out if I’m the right storyteller for your biz.
All of the Above
You know that there are areas of your business that really require YOUR expertise and skills. And then, there’s everything else! You can hire me to take care of “everything else” for you. If you want a regular First Officer to work in your business every week, I have a few spots available for that! It’s a choose-your-own-adventure experience, so you can have any or all of the following services:
- consulting sessions, where we talk shop and help you map out your business goals and To Dos
- content writing services
- project management
- support to supervise your growing team
- research and problem-solving
You’ll also get a bonus that’s hard to describe, but basically, you’ve got an ally now. When I work as your First Officer, I take on your mission and goals for myself. I care deeply about helping you achieve your dreams, and I work hard to make your business the best it can be. I’ll always be thinking about your business in the back of my mind, and I’ll send you my ideas to help you grow your business. Basically, you won’t have to keep doing this alone.
I always start off these types of relationships on a trial basis, to make sure it’s a good fit for both of us. So if you’re ready to get the ball rolling and have a conversation about how a First Officer might be just what your business needs, fill out the contact form below and let’s get started!
Ongoing First Officer services are available at $50/hour.
A note about the payment system:
Your first consultation is always free, so you’re not committing to anything by filling out these forms. I’m committed to working with business owners who really need my help, and to doing the type of work that’s most suited to my skills & experience. If I’m not the best fit for your business, maybe I can help you find someone who is – I just want you to be successful, no matter what.
For project work, you’re the captain of the ship. That means that you can decide on a budget for the project, and I will stop working when we hit that point, so you’re never surprised with a bill at the end of our time together.
If you want to hire me as a regular First Officer in your business, I require a 2-hours/week minimum to hold your spot on my calendar. We can go up from there, however many hours you’d like, if you need more help.
